Sports medicine and performance tests

We are pleased to finally be able to offer performance tests in the Aklin practice.

These examinations and consultations are carried out in the Aklin practice by Roger Vogel (specialist FMH orthopedic surgery, sports medicine (SGSM)), certified trainer of elite sports and sports medicine specialist. In principle, all examinations are individually designed and adapted to the needs of each athlete.

Performance tests are used to assess current performance, e.g. during training or after an injury. Based on the test results, training recommendations can be made, the progress of training or rehabilitation can be checked, or overtraining can be identified.

If a performance test is carried out under conditions that are as standardized as possible and repeated at regular intervals, it allows a longitudinal comparison, i.e. a statement can be made about personal performance development over time.

If a performance test is carried out according to official guidelines, so-called standardized, the results also allow cross-comparison, i.e. a comparison with other athletes from the same sport, or even from other sports.

For these reasons, we primarily offer standardized performance tests in accordance with Swiss Olympic guidelines.

A performance test usually only tests an excerpt from a sport. Many other factors influencing performance, such as the special requirements of a particular sport, but also the psychological factors in an important competition, are not taken into account in a performance test “in the laboratory”. The results from a performance test are therefore only ever approximate of the actual performance in a competition.
